Granite Quarry, August 3, 2020 – The Town of Granite Quarry’s agreement for recycling pickup will end August 2020.  Granite Quarry has joined the ranks of many other towns that are opting out of recycling because of the expense and shortage of end users that actually recycle those materials.

During budget workshops the Granite Quarry Board of Aldermen carefully considered the total costs of the program against the most current updates of its effectiveness in the end market.  The decision was ultimately made to discontinue the recycling program unless or until market conditions improve in cost and effectiveness.  The Board subsequently lowered the environmental fee for residents to $11.00 per month, which will take effect on September 1, 2020 and thus show on the October bill for water and sewer services during the month of September.

The last recycling pickup date for residents will be August 19, 2020.  Residents are asked not to place anything else in the cans following the August 19th pickup, and to leave their empty cans by the curb until the contractor can collect them all.

The Town still fully supports and encourages residents wishing to recycle to utilize one of the County’s recycling convenience sites.  The Town’s nearest drop-off location is:
