Granite Quarry Police, Public Works, Town Manager, Rowan Rescue Squad and Rowan Animal Control responded to several reports of a hawk swooping down on unsuspecting visitors to the trails. The nest of this Federally protected bird was investigated with the use of a drone provided by Rowan Rescue Squad. Signs will be posted in the park warning about the nesting hawk. Please be cautious walking in Centennial Park over the next few weeks until young hawks leave the nest.
