Granite Lake Park

In order to help our citizens stay safe while enjoying our parks, you will see signs reminding parents and children of the requirement for children under the age of 16 to wear helmets while riding bicycles on our parks’ public bicycle paths.  The signs will show the following:

NOTICE:  STATE LAW REQUIRES ALL BIKERS UNDER 16 YEARS OLD
MUST WEAR HELMET WHILE RIDING. N.C.G.S.  20-171.9

Two piers allow you to step out over the water.Granite Lake Park opened in June 2007 and consists of paved walking trails, a shelter with bathrooms, a playground area, a lake covering an acre with two piers, fish, and the Granite Lake Ducks.

The park is located on North Salisbury Avenue (Hwy 52) across from Kerns Street and is open from 6am until 10pm.

The park sits on the site of the former Granite Lake pool where many a youngster once swam. Although swimming is no longer permitted, the park has become a center piece for many a person to remember days gone by and pass those memories on to a younger generation.

Granite Lake Park ShelterAfter Granite Lake closed, there appeared to be a large void in the heart of the town and momentum soon gained speed to create a park. WIth the help of grants, tax money and donations to make it a reality, the park finally came alive. Donations from the Robertson Family Foundation, the Cannon Foundation, the Hurley family of Salisbury, F&M Bank, the Woodson Foundation, and Wal-Mart, helped gain the matching funds needed to complete the park.

A generous donation from A. D. and Jane Powell in the memory of their son, Justin funded the new Granite Lake fountain. The movable, floating fountain sprays 7 feet high and 28 feet across. It has four white lights, but the town also has red, blue and green lenses to change the colors for various seasons and celebrations. Due to it's proximaty to Hwy 52, split rail fencing with attached chain link fencing partially encircles the playground and shelter areas thus providng a safer place for children to play.

The walking trails connect to the Centennial Park located off of Brown Street behind the F&M Bank Complex.

The town is accepting donations with various ways that you can memorialize or honor a loved one.  Please call the Granite Quarry Town Hall if you are interested.
